The Bali Blog « 'Kajeng Kliwon': A Very Bad-Hair Day on Bali...

Kajeng Kliwon is the day when anything that can go wrong will go wrong on Bali.

Trust the moon.

If you don't pray, 'Kajeng Kliwon' is the day when you get run off your 'bike; or forget the pan on the stove until it melts; or your dog dies of a heart-attack; or a coconut falls on your head; or you leave your kids behind in the departure lounge; or your walls just fall down.

It's one of those.

Unless you send a prayer up. Light some incense. Take a nod to the north-east. And then it can be a particularly auspicious day.

Hot tip? Stay at home, have a quiet one - and be very careful the evening before.

It comes around once every 15 days. You have been warned.
